Beginner-Advanced Levels
Children & Adults Hunt Seat & Jumping

Beginner I (walk – trot)

• Learn to safely approach, halter and lead a horse
• Learn riding vocabulary
• Learn to groom, tack, mount and dismount
• Trail riding
• Walk and trot (posting & sitting trot), two point position
• Balance exercises
• Steering using figure eights & serpentine at the walk

Beginner II (walk - trot - canter)

• Increase vocabulary
• Learn horse colors & breeds
• Trail riding
• Know the parts of tack
• Begin canter work
• Trot poles
• Begin to learn diagonals
• Improve two-point position
• Learn to back a horse
• Improve steering abilities; serpentines and figure eights at a trot.
• Introduction to leg yielding

Beginner III

• Tacking independently
• Developing ability and confidence in pole patterns
• Begin cantering individually
• Learn to ride a variety of school horses
• Increase strength and improving body position
• Improve leg yielding.

Intermediate I

• Increase riding vocabulary
• Canter work and learn leads
• Begin no-stirrup work
• Trail riding and pasture riding
• Balance and riding aids in transitions
• Improve posting position
• Improve diagonals
• Jumping to 18”
• Begin collection and extension

Intermediate II

• Jump 2’ - 2’6”, solids, lines and courses
• Canter circles, serpentines & figure eights
• Master correct diagonals & effective transitions
• Improve collection, extension and leg yielding
• Fine tuning horse and rider communications
• Non-arena riding
• Learn shoulder in & out
• Continue no-stirrup work
• Learn striding between jumps
